The Frontier started as James Holguin's first high-school truck, completely bone stock. From day one, the dream was to build it into its greatest possible form. Over the years, James went through every phase of pre-runner ownership with this truck, evolving it step by step: beginning with a front-suspension travel kit, then running leaf springs in the rear, moving to a back-half, and eventually transforming it into a full tube-chassis build.

All told, the project has taken ten years from the day it was first torn down. Between a teacher’s salary and supporting six kids, the financial hurdles alone stretched the timeline, but the commitment never wavered.

This truck also became a bond between James and Morgan Clarke of MCD. When the shop first opened, Morgan promised James that no matter what, they would finish this build. It would not change hands again, and the original vision would be brought to life, however long it took. And that is exactly what happened.

They pushed through the grind: setbacks, constant jokes about when it would finally be done, and plenty of outside doubt. But through it all, both of them grew alongside this truck. James trusted Morgan to carry the project through and finish it in a way that honored the dedication he had put into it for more than a decade.

James is the backbone of Terra Crew and a true pioneer in pre-runner culture. He is one of the rare people Morgan would sacrifice time and money for to see a build like this completed, not just because of the truck, but because he and his family are like family to the MCD team.
